New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year Everyone!

Since it is that time of year to make resolutions (that may or may not be kept…*gulp*) we at The Net Results decided to conduct a little in-office interview to reveal our personal goals for 2011. In addition to talking about our resolutions, we also discussed our favorite websites to visit when we’re not working.

Yet perhaps most importantly, we all took a stab at this age-old question: is niche pronounced “nitch” or “neesh”? Our answers to these questions may surprise you….

James

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: My New Year’s Resolution is to drink more, gain a few pounds, and stop working out so much.  (They never come true anyway so might as well use reverse logic!)

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: Fail Blog , Funny or Die , and YouTube.

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: I say it the correct way: N-I-T-C-H

Ashley

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: My first two resolutions are ones I do every year – to read one new book a month and to experience one new thing every month (doesn’t have to be crazy, it just has to be new to me). I also want  to run 5Ks in the spring. I LOATHE running so that is going to be a real challenge/reward.

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: My guilty pleasures are Gilt (it’s awesome but you have to register to see the goodies – don’t worry it’s free) and Etsy, but I also love icanhascheezburger and Hyperbole and a Half. Feline hilarity and neurotic brilliance entertains me for hours!

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: I understand in theory that it’s “nitch” but I tend not to accept this in practice. I usually say “Neesh”.

Kevin

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: Get into better shape (diet, exercise) and QUIT SMOKING!!! I’d quit drinking too, but I *gotta* have *something* to keep me somewhat sane

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: For fun, I like Pogo and The Onion.

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: I say “Nitch”.

Ron

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: Resolution – To have more tolerance – to keep my peaceful state as much as possible (OM) :-)

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: Since I am the original “Groover McTuber” (Furry Freak Brothers ) I love IMDB to checkout info on movies!  I also like any website that has to do with health such as Earth ClinicYouTube for videos pertaining to music since MTV is no longer Music – I’m forever a child of the 60′s (rock on!)

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: It’s most definitely “Nitch”. We don’t live in France, after all.

Elisa

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: I guess you could call this a resolution, but my big plan this year is to run a marathon! I guess my resolution is to run a marathon and not die!

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: How could I not include I Has a Hotdog? Also love http://blog.flickr.net/en

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: For 23 years of my life, I thought the only way to pronounce “Niche” was “Nitch” – that is, until my interview with James. In his first sentence he used the phrase – “Micro Neesh Finder.” I was instantly sucked into a spiral of self-doubt. Nitch? Neesh? Have I been saying it wrong ALL ALONG?! Is he passing judgment right now? Why has no one corrected me for 23 years?! I immediately thought to question my entire vocabulary. Maybe I can learn sign language?

Needless to say, I was welcomed to join the company (hurray!) and found out about a week later that there really isn’t a right or wrong way. Phew.

Rita

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: I love New Year’s Resolutions! (Did I tell you I’m the eternal optimist?) I’m not worried about pesky details like whether I’m going to keep them or not – it’s just fun thinking I might! This year, I’m keeping my goals pretty broad: I resolve to learn one new skill, make one new friend, and get rid of one bad habit.

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: The website’s I go to for fun are Amazon.com (to order more books and music CDs – don’t tell my husband!) and  IMDB (to look up movie and TV show details I can’t remember anymore)

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: I usually say “neesh” now, but I’m not a purist about it and could argue it either way. Hey, I’m still trying to figure out how to pronounce the name of the little town I live in – it’s spelled Van Wyck, and it’s  pronounced three different ways, depending on who you’re talking to – Van Wack (the old-schoolers), Van Wike (the hoity-toity) and Van Wick (the outsiders)!

Sharon

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: My resolution is to learn to love spinach.

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: I love Food Network and YouTube.

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: I personally say “Nitch”.

Justin

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: I will stop making excuses and start doing the things I’ve always wanted to do.  I always make time to work but seldom make time for recreation.  So I want to get started with the following:  get back into martial arts, learn to fly an airplane, jump out of an airplane (with a parachute), travel, and much more.

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: I like Amazon, Ebay, and The Gary Halbert Letter.

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: Haha! I tend to go back and forth, almost at an exact 1 to 1 ratio between using “Nitch” and “Neesh”.

Stacey

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution?

A: My new years resolution is to simplify my life.  I have too much going on.  I am going to try to slow down and appreciate doing NOTHING.

Q: What are your favorite non-work related websites you go to FOR FUN?

A: I’m an eBay-holic.  I admit it…I need an intervention.  Won’t somebody please help me???

Q: How do you pronounce “Niche” – is it “Nitch” or “Neesh”?

A: HAHA! I call it “Neesh”

Feel free to share your resolutions for 2011 too, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Upcoming Webinar – Juggernaut Niche Marketing

****Hey everyone. I’ve got some urgent news about this afternoon’s webinar…John had an emergency and had to go out of town unexpectedly so we had to cancel the webinar.

But, here is a link he made available of the webinar…it’s the same content he was going to discuss, but this is recorded instead of live. http://www.juggernautnichemarketing.com/replay/ you can listen to that at your leisure.

We will undoubtedly arrange another live webinar with John, so all is not lost…but there is no webinar tonight.

Thanks for understanding!********

Tomorrow, December 22nd, we’re hosting a FREE webinar with John S. Rhodes called “Juggernaut Niche Marketing”. If you have been wondering how to make a profit from a niche this webinar may be of interest to you!

John S. Rhodes is going to show you exactly how he’s finding the hottest products on Amazon. He’s also going to talk about finding hot niche products by tapping into the world’s biggest retailer. I’ve seen some of this before, but John really breaks it down. It’s easy and simple.

Then, things get really weird. Here’s why:

John’s going to show you how to figure out the color of your niche. (Seriously.) I’m telling you, this is totally freaky but it works. It’s also fun. Listen up… get on this webinar just for this.

And, if we have enough time, John said that he’s also going to give away one of his best “big guru” secrets. It’s a way to know if your niche content will go viral BEFORE you ever publish it. This is ingenious.

Anyone not doing this “psychic niche” stuff is crazy. This is definitely a MIND BOMB!

…and yes, it works in any niche. And much, much more…

The essential details are as follows:

Tomorrow, December 17th, we’re hosting a FREE webinar with Brittany Lynch called “Consistently Earn Money In Crazy Little Niche Markets”. This is a system that works and many of you are really going to like this!

Brittany knows what she’s talking about – she worked at Google as an account strategist on the AdWords team and her job required her to work with fortune 500 companies to build out and optimize their AdWords campaigns in order to achieve the absolute best return on investment possible. This gives her a unique advantage and insight into AdWords and other online paid traffic platforms…and she’s going to share all of her knowledge with you!

More specifically, Brittany will show you EXACTLY how she makes a hefty profit every month by monetizing unique and “off the beaten track” niches. It’s going to be a fun and informative time, you don’t want to miss this!

Among other things, this webinar will certainly cover:

  • How To Choose A Profitable Niche And Profit… whether you’re a product owner, affiliate or complete beginner.
  • Reveal which traffic sources Brittany uses to make income each month.
  • Learn how you can replicate her little ‘money systems’ in two hours or less.
  • Discover how you can have as close to auto-pilot income as you can possibly get, in the shortest possible time

Have we lost our minds?!?!

NO!

We’re just in the charitable holiday spirit!

This Wednesday, December 15th, we’re hosting a FREE webinar called “Super Awesome Net Results Charity Webinar”. This is the first time we’re hosting a webinar like this and we hope to make it an annual tradition. The inaugural recipient is a wonderful charity called “Kid’s First” and they will receive 100% of the proceeds. Come join us for a great time and help us donate to a very worthwhile cause!

During the webinar, we are discounting all of our products. I’ll let that sink in for minute….ALL…of….our…products…will be on SALE! You read that right. We’re doing this for the children, but it’s a great chance for you to get our awesome products cheaply!

During this webinar, we are going to raffle off a $2000.00 mystery product (sorry, we promised that we would not mention the name of the product before the event). This $2,000 price tag is what this mystery product sells for everyday…we’re not just making up a trumped up figure. One lucky webinar attendee will receive this awesome product!…It could be you, but you have to be on the webinar!

While the webinar is in session,  we’re going to put a limited quantity of our products up for 10 minutes each.  We’ll give you a special link and it’ll have a Paypal button along with the quantity of that item we are selling AND the greatly discounted price.   You can buy that product for the indicated price until either the quantity sells out or the 10 minutes are up.  Then we’ll go to the next product. You will have to act fast because once the product is gone and the 10 minutes expire, that deal will never be available again.

We’re also going to have products from several of our internet friends.  Including:  Tim Castleman, Wil Mattos, John Rhodes, Rachel Rofe, Dennis Becker, the Legendary Vegas Vince, and debonair Buck A. Roo.

I really appreciate a good design, and an aesthetically pleasing website always grabs my attention (the opposite is true too: I flee from poorly designed websites like they have the plague). When I recently became aware of Typekit my mouth dropped – this website’s potential is great and if you are trying to brand yourself or your product Typekit may be a good fit for you. For the record, no, there’s no affiliation of any sort here…just thought some of you might like to know more about this type of service :-)

If you already have a unique font that you like to use, you are definitely going to like Typekit! In the past, unique fonts had to be uploaded onto the website as a .jpg (or equivalent) file or via Flash. This means these special fonts weren’t searchable, translatable, and it could be inconvenient to constantly have to make new .jpg images for your website. If you use Typekit, all of this changes.

You can introduce your own custom font, hire a font designer, or choose a font from their massive library, such as this one called “Fertigo Pro”…

Whichever path you choose, the Typekit font will remain searchable, translatable, and it’s a breeze to use. Your unique font will now appear on the web as it should…say goodbye to annoying, unreadable, and strange characters such as these:

Typekit works on all major browsers and is integrating itself onto platforms such as WordPress, so expect to see more Typekit fonts in the future.

If you are trying to increase your brand awareness, Typekit is an option you may want to consider. Many successful companies have their own unique fonts that are so synonymous with their brand that it’s impossible to separate the two.

For instance, look at The New Yorker:

The New Yorker is famous for its distinct font…and now that very same font is readable on the internet, courtesy of Typekit.

You can do this with your website too. There is one caveat that needs to be addressed though.

It’s not free :-(

However, it’s not crazy expensive, and if branding is important to your business, the yearly fee may be worth it. They have several price package points and you can do a free trial to see if this kind of service is the right thing for you.

Check it out! I’m completely in favor of making browsing experience more varied and interesting, and unique fonts are a great way to make websites more distinct and memorable.  Enjoy!

Upcoming Webinar – Kindle Secrets Exposed

Tonight (Wednesday December 8th) James is hosting a FREE webinar called “Kindle Secrets Exposed”. Unlike past webinars, this one will not feature any guest. It’s just going to be you and James (awell, there will be other people attending the webinar, but you can’t see them…) and James is going to show you EXACTLY how he makes money via Amazon’s Kindle.

Come and sit with James as he shows you many of his secrets, tips, and tricks to making a decent monthly income (passive income!) selling Kindle ebooks. This isn’t theory. It is quite literally how James makes money with the Amazon Kindle.

My methodology is simple, and you can do this too.

The essential details are as follows:

Date: Wednesday December 1st 2010
Time: 7:00 PM EST
Sign Up Page: http://www.snip2.com/re/plrbl
System Requirements: For PC-based attendees: Windows® 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, 2003 Server, Vista. For Macintosh®-based attendees: Mac OS® X 10.4 (Tiger®) or newer.

This is a completely FREE webinar!

Furthermore, at the end of the webinar I will be selling the LAST 95 USB ports containing the one and only Ultimate PLR Library.

See? There they are.

You absolutely don’t need to buy one of these if you attend the webinar. The webinar is free and you’ll benefit from the knowledge, but if you wanted to take your gameplan to the next level this USB could make ALL the difference. By the end of the webinar, you will see how easy it is to make money selling information (ebooks) for the Kindle, and it makes sense to offer you the Best PLR Deal On The Planet:  My Ultimate PLR Library.

I’m not going to weigh you down with info-overload here… but the library contains almost two gigabytes worth of products ripe for the selling!  No worries.  I’ll go over everything, in detail, and make sure you know exactly what
you’re getting…if you want it.

Holiday Revenue Maximization

Holiday Revenue Maximization - photo courtesy of photobucket.com

‘Tis the holiday season, and that means it’s showtime for many online businesses. I found a great article that gives really insightful advice about how to increase your holiday sales and thought I would share it with you. In fact, it’s so full of good ideas, I’m not even going to paraphrase the article. You should just read The 12 Days of Holiday Revenue Maximization for Your Online Store now.

Read it? Excellent. In addition to the points made in the article, I would like to add my own two cents that I’ve picked up from recent experiences:

1.) Although I personally advocate not using audio files such as Christmas jingles on your website, if you simply MUST include holiday music on your website, have the audio player clearly visible so that the person browsing the website can mute the sound if they wish to. Case in point: I was searching for presents yesterday on the web and I came across a website – that almost certainly had the item I was looking for, mind you – that kept playing “Little Drummer Boy” at high volume and I couldn’t find a way to turn off the music so I left the website. It didn’t help that I was simultaneously listening to music on Pandora, resulting in an awful cacophony of sounds that barraged my eardrums. It had quite the opposite of the intended effect of injecting “holiday cheer” into my shopping experience; I bailed on the website and found another (silent) website to make my purchase.  It’s all about quality control and creating a streamlined experience!

2.) The article suggests that you build and promote clearance pages. This is a great idea, because internet shoppers are increasingly orientating towards “flash deals” or “daily deals”. The time constraint inherent in these deals make shoppers buy products because there simply isn’t time to sit on the fence and wait it out. To highlight a sale that you may be doing, consider adding a timer that ticks down somewhere on your page. It will add urgency and if done correctly translates into more sales. One such place to find a timer is Drupal , but you can probably go onto a website like fiverr.com and have a javascript whiz build you a custom made timer in no time.

The tips explained in this article aren’t solely confined to the holiday shopping season. You can implement these tips any time of the year to increase your sales!
