New Google Chrome (Beta Version)

Google Chrome is the world’s second most favorite browser and Google just released a new version of Google Chrome (albeit in beta version) for you to try out and enjoy.

This new beta version (properly called 17.0 .963.26 beta-m) enhances security. In this version, Google Chrome has been made “smarter” via expanded functionality so that’s possible for it to more quickly and accurately analyze .exe and .msi files that people wittingly (or unwittingly) download; this will help keep malicious software off of your computer.

This new Google Chrome version also loads pages faster. This additional speed comes from loading some webpages in the background before the user is even done typing the web url in the omnibox. So for example, if you were to start typing “www.yah”  this new version of Google Chrome would guess that you’re going to “www.yahoo.com” (especially if you’ve been to that website before) and would preemptively start downloading that page in the background. By the time you finished typing “yahoo” into the box, the page would be ready to go. As soon as you hit “enter” the already rendered page would appear VERY quickly. This would make web browsing seem instantaneous.

You can try out the new beta release for free. This is also one of those rare occasions where you can give Google feedback, so if you use it and like or dislike something about the beta release, you can let Google know your thoughts.

Micro Niche Finder ver. 5.6.44

If you have used Micro Niche Finder recently, you would have been prompted to update to version 5.6.44 (and hopefully you downloaded the new version). However, if you haven’t updated Micro Niche Finder in a while use this link to get your update!

Make sure Micro Niche Finder is NOT open when you download the new version. It must be closed before running the .exe file.

This is not a major update, but some things that have been improved are:

  • Sorting by SOC in Projects fixed
  • Minor bug fixes and optimizations

If you have any problems updating your Micro Niche Finder, please submit a support ticket and we’ll be happy to help you!

Stay Focused

Let’s be candid with each other: sometimes you log onto the computer with the specific purpose to do work but the siren call of the internet is too powerful to resist and instead of doing work you get roped into exploring the internet for a few hours and before you know it it’s bedtime and not much productivity has happened.

Admit it! This has happened to you! It happens to the best of us *sigh*.

If you use Google Chrome, there’s a nifty and free plug-in that you might be interested in. It’s called “Stay Focused” and it basically curbs wasteful internet browsing (I mean, there’s really only so many times you can see what’s happening on Facebook….c’mon now) If you have an important task at hand and REALLY need help resisting your internet impulses (even the most self-controlled people need assistance now and then) you can download this free plug-in for increased productivity.

Of course, you must be honest with yourself for this extension to even work. You see, you must enter a list of websites you want to be restricted from – so if you can’t admit that you spend WAY too much time browsing Youtube and thus don’t add it to the blocked list, this plug-in isn’t going to be that effective. This extension is very customizable (you get to determine how many minutes you will allow yourself for each restricted site) and it is easy to turn off once your task is finished. If you think that you might be tempted to turn off the plug-in before your work is finished, you can set up the “Require Challenge” option; this option requires you to finish a difficult – but not impossible – task before the option is dismantled. There are other customizable options, and once this extension is downloaded you simply click on the Stay Focused icon that will appear in your toolbar to manage your settings. It will look like this:

If you’re serious about reducing procrastination, this is definitely a Google Extension worth downloading. You must be honest with it in order for the extension to work – but based off the thousands of dedicated users of this plug-in, the results are well worth it.
