Micro Niche Finder ver. 5.6.44

If you have used Micro Niche Finder recently, you would have been prompted to update to version 5.6.44 (and hopefully you downloaded the new version). However, if you haven’t updated Micro Niche Finder in a while use this link to get your update!

Make sure Micro Niche Finder is NOT open when you download the new version. It must be closed before running the .exe file.

This is not a major update, but some things that have been improved are:

  • Sorting by SOC in Projects fixed
  • Minor bug fixes and optimizations

If you have any problems updating your Micro Niche Finder, please submit a support ticket and we’ll be happy to help you!

Constantly Reactivating Micro Niche Finder

This is a very rare occurrence, but should you find yourself constantly having to activate your Micro Niche Finder these are the very simple steps to fix this little glitch.

The first thing you will want to do is close Micro Niche Finder.

Next, search your computer for this file:
C:\Program Files\Micro Niche Finder 5.0\AppData\mnf5lic.txt  (if you are using 32 bit Windows)

Or search your computer for this file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Niche Finder 5.0\AppData\mnf5lic.txt  ( if you are using 64 bit
Windows)

If you are unsure what CPU you are using, just search for both of these files. One of them will be found.

Once you find the file that applies to you, DELETE it.

You can then open Micro Niche Finder – you will have to activate it for this first time, but after that you shouldn’t have to activate it every time you open the program.

It’s a very easy fix. There is an easy to follow video about Activating Micro Niche Finder that you can watch as well.

If you have any questions, you can always submit a support ticket and our team will be more than willing to help you!

Searches Hanging in Micro Niche Finder

Hey everyone – Searches hanging in Micro Niche Finder?

It looks like we have a new Google Adwords update rolling in, and since we’re kind of at the mercy of Google, it’s taking us a bit of tweaking to get everything running seamlessly again (in fact, we’re testing new updates right at this very moment to see if it fixes everything). But rest assured: we will be able to fix it!

If you are outside the US you have likely been affected by this change already and searches that use google adwords will likely be hanging for you. We have been working on this nonstop and expect to have everything sorted out before too long. We will keep you updated, but we apologize for the inconvenience.

Feel free to ask questions, submit search logs, etc. by submitting a ticket here: http://www.tnrsupport.com/

Thanks for your patience!

Captcha Problems in Micro Niche Finder

If you are ever using Micro Niche finder and encounter a problem with captchas, try fixing it in the ways detailed in this article. If this doesn’t work, send us a support ticket and we’ll get you back on track, but generally speaking most captcha problems can be fixed quickly and easily on your own!

If you see an image like the one above, the very first thing to do is to confirm if you have completed the Adwords login registration in Micro Niche Finder. You can do this from your Micro Niche Finder homepage by clicking on the options tab:

You will then click on the small tab in the lower corner labeled Options:

Then click on the tab that says AdWords Login Settings

Fill in the appropriate information if necessary and then hit the “Click to Test the Login” button.

If you do not have an Adwords account (don’t worry, it’s 100% free) you can register for one by following these easy instructions given at the websites below:

http://www.ehow.com/how_5075548_start-google-adwords-account.html

http://www.google.com/intl/en/ads/

After completing registration in Micro Niche Finder, click the “Manage Searches” tab near the top of the page and delete the searches ( or at least just the searches that failed to return results or had the blank captcha error).

It is also a good idea to clear your Internet Explorer’s ‘s cache. You might already know how to do this, but this website explains the process succinctly: http://www.ehow.com/how_8423555_refresh-cache-ie.html

Another thing to check is that your anti-virus/firewall lists Micro Niche Finder as a trusted program/application. Occasionally, some anti-virus software considers the update a completely new program and default blocks it. If you see it on your anti-virus/firewall list as a blocked program, simply unblock it and the problem should be fixed.

Finally, you will want to close and restart Micro Niche Finder and try a new search. The problem most likely is resolved by now – but if it isn’t, please submit a support ticket and we’ll be happy to help!

About ten customers have reported issues with searches hanging in the latest version (5.6.4) of Micro Niche Finder.

After repeated emails with log files, etc. – we have been unable to recreate the problem in-house.

If you are experiencing issues with searches, please do the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to the following address (you may need to right-click the link and select copy, then Paste it into your IE address bar)
    https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer?stylePrefOverride=2&__u=1000000000&__c=1000000000&ideaRequestType=KEYWORD_IDEAS#search.none
  2. If you are not logged-in to AdWords on the site, please click Sign In to login to your AdWords account before performing the search.
  3. Enter a search phrase, then click the “Advanced Options” link to open the country/language selector. Select the same language and country that you would select in Micro Niche Finder.
  4. Click the Columns button and select All Columns, then click the Apply button.
  5. Click the Search button.
  6. When results are returned, click the Download button, select Download All from the menu that appears, and select TSV from the file type list in the window that pops up.
  7. After the download is complete, click the Broad check box (on the left side of the page), then click Exact. Repeat the download/TSV instructions.
  8. After the Exact results have been downloaded, uncheck Exact and select Phrase to do the download/TSV again.

If your downloads are successful, start Micro Niche Finder and try a new search.

Micro Niche Finder uses Internet Explorer to perform the searches. If you cannot complete the search/downloads in IE, they will likely fail in Micro Niche Finder, too.

We believe this may be a problem with the Keyword Tool site, as it has affected very few customers and does not seem to be reproducible here.

We think the Keyword Tool site will sort itself out shortly, but in the meantime, we are always willing to handle your queries…simply submit a support ticket and someone from our customer support team will work with you. Thank you!

Version 5.6.2 Download

If you haven’t already, please update Micro Niche Finder to its newest version (5.6.2). Simply open Micro Niche Finder and a massive pop-up will appear with a download link.

The most notable difference is the change we made to accommodate the changes Google has made to the AdWords site – causing redirects to the AdWords Dashboard and Campaign Management pages instead of the Keyword Tool page that Micro Niche Finder requests. As a result, some users have reported that Micro Niche Finder “Cannot find the search button” or that “CAPTCHA’s are empty”

This update should handle the redirects and perform the searches properly!

If you experience any issues, please submit a support ticket and we’ll respond to you promptly!

Micro Niche Finder and Macs

While most people still use Windows operating systems (amongst others) and PCs, we do get the occasional question about the compatability between Micro Niche Finder and Mac computers with various Mac operating systems.

As far as PC’s are concerned, Micro Niche Finder will run under Windows XP, Vista and Windows 2000. However, Micro Niche Finder is not outright compatible with Macs. Fret not! This is not an insurmountable protoblem. Micro Niche Finder will run on Mac operating systems with some type of PC Emulation software such as Parallels and a Windows operating system.

There are many emulator options available to Mac users to make PC compatible programs such as Micro Niche Finder function properly on a Mac. The previous link provides a website to help Mac users find the right emulation solution for their needs.
